Queen Zubeia, also known as the Dragon Queen, is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside King Harrow) in the 2018 animated Netflix fantasy series, The Dragon Prince.
She is the best friend of Domina Profundus, the true love and mate of the late King Avizandum, the mother of Prince Azymondias, as well as an Archdragon of the Sky, and the queen of all of Xadia and the dragons. She became depressed after both of them seemingly, but after Team Zym werre able to bring Azymondias back to her, Zubeia would become more hopeful and would grow to become a great ally of Katolis and Team Zym. Two years after the Final Battle, Zubeia assists Team Zym in their quest to prevent the liberation of Aaravos and later stop him from invoking the Eternal Night.

Backstory[]
At least 300 years before the story's events, Zubeia fell in love with Avizandum. During his time fighting to become the king of the dragons, Zubeia would appear in the reunion between the dragons and Queen Aditi, but Aditi was killed by Aaravos before she could make the decision, which almost lead to a war between elves and dragons, as the former species believed that the dragons were behind Aditi's murder.
However, a human girl was able to find out about Aaravos' actions, and Zubeia and Avizandum were able to trick Aaravos and imprison him. Before the show's events, she was best friends with Domina Profundis, but after the death of Domina's loyal friend, the Empress of the Deep, she decided to isolate herself and dedicate her time to protect the ocean, with not even Zubeia begging her not to changing her mind.
Sometime later, Zubeia and Avizandum became parents to an unhatched egg, which they would call the future dragon Azymondias. However, her mate was killed by King Harrow and Viren and her egg was seemingly destroyed (in reality, Viren stole the egg to use to get more powerful), Zubeia became broken over these events, and ordered a group of Moonshadow Assassins to murder King Harrow and his son Ezran, with Harrow's assassination being successful, although Ezran's was unsucessful. Zubeia would then fall ill and fell in a deep slumber.

She is also a loving mother to her son, Azymondias as she lovingly whispered to him when he was an egg and grew extremely protective of him when he was returned to her. She also seemed to act as a pseudo-mother figure for Team Zym, mainly Soren and Ezran. For the former, her mother advice and kind wisdom gave Soren the much needed parental guidance he left with his mother Lissa and his father Viren. Zubeia even considered Ezran as a brother to Zym. She also forced Azymondias to stay at the Storm Spire due to her fear of possibly losing him like Avizandum. Rayla was afraid of Zubeia's maternal temper. The elf stayed that if Rex Igneous doesn't kill them, then Zubeia would because Team Zym allowed her son to accompany them to the Drakewood. In a way, Rayla was practically reacting like an older sibling getting in trouble with their mother for endangering their younger sibling.
Indeed, Zubeia proved to be quite protective of Zym and his friends, having successfully come to their aid and scared Rex Igneous off. Though Zubeia was initially unhappy with her son disobeying her and joining Team Zym, Soren and Ezran made her see reason that if it weren't for Zym, their situation would have been much worse. Zubeia agreed and soon managed to calm down.

Trivia[]
- Until her sacrifice in Season 7, Zubeia is one of the three original Archdragons who existed since the era of Aaravos to still be alive, alongside Rex Igneous and Domina Profundis.
- Zubeia was recovering from being poisoned after being bitten by a corrupt Sun Forge-infected Banther, Rex Igneous hi in his home kingdom, Umber Tor, and Domina took refuge in her oceans, and
- Luna Tenebris died under mysterious circumstances (presumably, Aaravos had something to do with this), Avizandum was slain by Harrow and Viren two months before Book One: Moon, and Sol Regem was murdered by Aaravos.
- With Zubeia's death, she is the third mother of a member of Team Zym to die, followed by Callum and Ezran's mother Sarai, Rayla's mother. Lissa is currently the only mother of a member of Team Zym (Soren's mother) who is still alive.
