Let me tell you something about Willow. She's a loser. Always has been. She got picked on through junior high, high school, right up until college. With her stupid mousy ways. And now? Willow's a junkie. The only thing Willow was ever good for...the only thing I ever had going for me were those moments...just moments...where Tara would look at me and I was wonderful. And that will never happen again. [...] Please! This is your pitch? You hate it here as much as I do! I'm just more honest about it. You're trying to sell me on the world? The one where you lie to your friends when you're not trying to kill them? Where you screw a vampire just to feel and insane asylums are the comfy alternative? This world? Buffy, it's me! I know you were happier when you were in the ground. The only time you were ever at peace in your whole life was when you were dead. Until Willow brought you back. You know, with magic?
―Willow explaining her then-new nihilistic outlook on life to Buffy Summers after she nearly harmed Buffy's sister, Dawn Summers.

Willow Rosenberg is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Spike) of the supernatural drama series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a character in the spin-off Angel.

  • Witchcraft
    • Spellcasting: Willow successfully cast a vast range of powerful spells to help her best friend in the fight against evil — the Ritual of Restoration, teleportation spells, the thick air spell, force field spells, resurrection spells, and even the Slayer activation spell.
    • Telekinesis
    • Telepathy
    • Technopathy
    • Love Manipulation
    • Elemental Magic: Willow had some divine spells over the five elements; wind, water, earth, fire and aether.
      • Hydrokinesis: As an elemental witch, she can control and manipulate water.
      • Aerokinesis: As an elemental witch, she can manipulate the wind.
      • Geokinesis: Willow is able to control, manipulate and generate Earth's, stones, and riches. Her magic rituals are generally linked to earth-based powers and involve communing and commanding spirits and spiritual energies.
      • Pyrokinesis: Willow is able to control, manipulate and generate fire. In 2000 during a cookout with her friends, Willow lit up the flames of the grill when trying to work, but she accidentally heightened the flames.
        • Incantation: ignis incende"
    • Conjuration: Willow conjured decorations in the Summers household in order to celebrate Anya and Xander's engagement at an impromptu engagement party in Halloween 2001.
    • Soul restoration: In 1998, Willow was able to use an ancient spell used by Jenny Calendar's gypsy clan to restore Angel's soul when he lost it after experiencing a moment of true happiness (as in his romantic relationship with Buffy on her 17th birthday)
    • Memory manipulation: Willow can cast spells that can alter people's memories, such as altering them, removing them completely, etc. In "All the Way," Willow cast a work that would make Tara forget about their argument about the former's addiction to magic. However, after an argument with Tara, Willow attempted another memory spell to make her forget about it; this unfortunately ended with Willow erasing everyone's memories.
    • Blessing Removal: In the Buffyverse and Earth-13, vampires cannot enter the house until they're invited in by the owner or host. However Willow Found a spell where she can remove the blessing off the house and therefore the vampire is not allowed to get back inside. She performed a spell that removed Angels permission to enter Buffy's house during a time when Buffy thought he attacked her mother Joyce and when he was the soulless vampire Angelus.

Temporary Powers[]

  • Dark Magic: After losing her girlfriend Tara Maclay when she was killed by Warren Mears with a stray bullet, Willow embraced her darker nature and practiced dark and destructive magic. She stole Giles' Magic and absorbed enough magic to practically destroy the world. However, Willow was turned to normal after being talked down to by Xander Harris.

Weaknesses[]

  • Addiction to magic: Despite becoming a very powerful witch, Willow developed an activation to magic ever since Buffy Summers sacrificed herself to save her sister Dawn. After resurrecting Buffy, Giles and Spike were against the idea as it fueled her obsession to magic. Willow's addiction escalated to the point where she would use magic to solve her problems and take shortcuts. This cultimated in Tara eventually breaking up with Willow when she cast an amnesiac spell on her and their friends. However, Willow got her addiction under control and eventually won Tara's heart back, but their reconciliation was brief.

Former weaknesses[]

  • Inviting a vampire in: once Willow invites a vampire into her home, they can enter whenever they want.
  • Magicless world: Without a world of magic, Willow lost all of her spells. She becomes obsessed with finding a way to restore magic to Earth, convinced that the world is dying without magic and needs it to survive. However, once magic was restored to the land, she regained her powers.

Equipment[]

  • Stake: Willow carried a steak around for hunting vampires and other demons.
  • Cross: Despite being Jewish, Willow has crosses nailed to the wall and hidden in her bedroom to prevent vampires from getting in. Buffy installed them in her room when Angel was the soulless vampire Angelus. She also carried holy cross's when she was out on patrol with her teammates.

Facilities[]

  • Rosenberg residence: Willow lived in this house with her parents. She kept crosses nailed to her wall to ward off vampires especially Angelus
  • Summers residence: After Buffy's second death, Willow and Tara moved into the house to take care of Dawn after unofficially adopting her. However, the house was eventually destroyed along with the rest of Sunnydale during the Scooby Gang's fight against the First Evil.
  • UC Berkeley dorm: Willow lived in a dorm, which she shared with Buffy after her previous roommate turned out to be a demonic entity.
  • Summers-Rosenburg apartment: After the fall of magic, Willow moved to San Francisco with the Scooby Gang. The group lived in the same apartment building, where Willow, Buffy and Dawn moved into their own apartment.
