Edward "Eddie" Brock is the main antagonist of Spider-Man 3 (the third and final film in Sam Raimi's trilogy). He is a former and dishonest photographer who wants revenge on Peter Parker for getting him fired. An embittered Eddie bonds with the Venom Symbiote after being rejected by Spider-Man. They vow to destroy Peter and everyone he loves.
Vulture was going to be the villain of the third Spider-Man film, because Sam Raimi was not a fan of the character. However, he was forced to replace him with Venom. As such, this iteration of Venom is often disliked by fans because Eddie does not become the Symbiote until the end of the film.
Vulture later went on to be the main antagonist of the MCU film Spider-Man: Homecoming film.
In earlier scripts, the Lizard and Electro were planned to be antagonists rather than Venom and Sandman.
Later, Lizard went to become the main antagonist of The Amazing Spider-Man and Electro later appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
After the cancellation of Spider-Man 4, Venom's spin-off film was shelved in favor of a reboot.
Venom was later given his own spin-off film, in 2018 with Tom Hardy taking on the role. However, the character is an anti-heroic vigilante.
