Varda Elentári is one of the Valar and a protagonist in the Middle-earth legendarium.

Personality[]

Varda rejoyces in light and was said to be one of the most beautiful of the Valar. The Elves called her on when their darkest hours are upon them. She could also see the true nature, as she was able to see the darkness in her brother-in-law Melkor's heart. Any utter of her name to dark spirits made them cower in fear. Varda, adored by the Elves, was spoken in their songs. She is also very all-knowing and can hear the sounds and cries of voices that come from east to west.

She was truly strong and benevolent and also once the mistress to Olórin

Tolkien's Legendarium[]

Varda was the lightest and most beautiful of the Valar and the wife of Manwë. When they were together, Manwë "sees further than all other eyes, through mist, and through darkness, and over the leagues of the sea" and Varda "hears more clearly than all other ears the sound of voices that cry from east to west."

With dew from the vats of Telperion Varda made the brightest stars in the heavens, most significantly the Valacirca, The Sickle of the Valar (The Big Dipper) and Menelmacar (Orion).

Varda was also the most feared and most hated Valar by her brother-in-law, Melkor (later known as Morgoth). When he rose in power, Varda saw the evilness and true nature of the dark Valar.
