Tyler Lockwood was a major protagonist, current werewolf and a former hybrid on The Vampire Diaries, and the only son of the mayor Richard Lockwood and his wife Carol Lockwood. Tyler is also the nephew of Mason Lockwood, who was also a werewolf, and a descendant of the Lockwood Family.

He is also the close friend of Elena Gilbert, Stefan Salvatore, Damon Salvatore, Jeremy Gilbert, Bonnie Bennett, Caroline Forbes, Matt Donovan, and Alaric Saltzman. He have known most of them since childhood.

Tyler is portrayed by Michael Trevino, who also portrays Kyle Valenti in Roswell, New Mexico.
