Trent DeMarco is a minor antagonist in the 2007 film Transformers. He was a jock at Tranquility High School and Mikaela's ex-boyfriend. He used to bully best friends Sam Witwicky and Miles Lancaster.
History
Transformers
At the film's start, he is the boyfriend of Sam's love interest, Mikaela Banes.
Personality
Trent is the stereotypical portrayal of a jock; he enjoys playing football, bullies other teenagers that he thinks are below him, such as Sam Witwicky and his best friend, Miles Lancaster. Like most rivals in films, Trent is cocky, misogynistic and downright cruel. He drives a nice car, and is dating the most popular girl in school, the main character's love interest. He is also prone to aggressive behavior, as he faced off against Sam at the lake when he showed up with Miles.
In Trent's mind, he has the perfect truck and does not like the thought of anyone else, especially Mikaela driving it. This shows his disrespectful attitude and misogynistic to women, even his own girlfriend.
Relationships
Mikaela Banes
Ex-Girlfriend
Trent and Mikaela have an on and off relationship. They are first seen sitting together in class while Sam gives his presentation, with Trent making fun of him to impress Mikaela. However, during the whole presentation, Mikaela does an interest in Sam. Later on, Mikaela approaches Trent before the latter gets into a confrontation with Sam and Miles when the pair show up uninvited at a hangout. After diffusing the situation, she asks if she can drive his car to another party, to which he declines, suggesting she, being his "little bunny" should just "hop in the back seat". She claims that she's not, in fact, his "little bunny", implying that the two have never actually started an official relationship. As she leaves the scene and begins to walk home, Trent says that he knows she'll call him eventually, as if to suggest that they are more of an on-and-off couple and not taking the hint that she is truly done with Trent now.
While helping to fix Sam's Camaro, Mikaela comments that guys, especially Trent, dislike it when she displays her knowledge about cars. This indicates that she feels she cannot be her true self around him, or anyone else for that matter. When Sam asks her why she continues to date Trent if he is "such a jerk," Mikaela does not respond. Her silence likely reflects her need to maintain a certain image in front of those around her, an image that comes with being linked to a star athlete like Trent.
Towards the end of the film, she begins dating Sam. The novelization further reveals that Mikaela broke up with Trent in front of everyone at school and went to to Sam, kissing him on the lips in front of everyone in the whole school.
Sam Witwicky
Trent has been bullying Sam and his best friend, Miles, since the start of high school a mnd possibly before that.
After the events of the film, Sam and Mikaela begin dating, much to Trent's confusion.
Bumblebee
Trent initially observes a vehicle operated by Sam Witwicky and his close companion, Miles. Unaware to Trent, Sam's latest automobile is the Autobot scout known as Bumblebee. From their first encounter, Bumblebee harbors a dislike for Trent, despite the two never having met directly. While at the lake during an altercation between Sam and Trent, Bumblebee later retaliated against Trent by flipping his truck onto its roof in "Tales of the Fallen," seeking both revenge against the bully and taking advantage of the amusement from the situation.
Trivia
- Because Travis Van Winkle portrayed Trent from Friday the 13th, there is a fan theory that both were the same character. However, this was debunked when the novelization revealed that Trent's last name from the Transformers novelization was DeMarco.
