Tom Riddle's Diary is a magical item featured in the Harry Potter franchise. It is one of the seven Horcruxes created by Lord Voldemort that contained his one eighth of his soul in order to attain immortality. In his younger years, Voldemort not only turned it into a Horcurx but he also implanted a memory. Ginny Weasley temporarily owned the diary in her first year, where she confided in the diary about everything, including her feelings towards Harry Potter. As she used the diary, Ginny fell under Riddle's influence and controlled the Basilisk to attack most of the Muggle-borns in school. However, Harry saved Ginny at the last minute within the Chamber of Secrets and stabbed the diary with the Basilisk fang, which was from the Basilisk Harry manage to kill with the Sword of Gryffindor. As Harry destroyed the diary, so was the horcrux containing the soul, rendering the diary harmless.
