- “That's what I admire about you, Korra. Your willingness to go to extremes in order to get what you want. It is a quality we both share.”
- ―Tarrlok
- “Go. Amon can't know anyone spoke with me. Defeat him. Put an end to this sad story.”
- ―Tarrlok encouraging Korra to stop Amon.
Tarrlok is the secondary antagonist of Book One: Air in The Legend of Korra, the youngest member of the United Republic Council and the son of the notorious crime lord Yakone. As such he was a rival of Tenzin's. He secretly planned to take over republic city and discredit the Avatar.
Korra and Mako effectively revealed Amon's deception, causing him to flee. Noatak hurried to Tarrlok's cell and suggested they escape together to start afresh. Tarrlok acknowledged that he should have joined Noatak four decades earlier and consented to depart with him. The siblings set off on a high-speed boat voyage across the Mo Ce Sea, where Amon asserted that, with Tarrlok at his side, they could accomplish anything. Nevertheless, upon hearing Amon's original name, "Noatak," he became sentimental about their brotherly bond and shed a tear. In a tragic twist of fate, Tarrlok utilized an Equalist glove to ignite the fuel tank behind them, resulting in an explosion that claimed both of their lives. With the deaths of Noatak and Tarrlok, the lineage of bloodbenders, stemming from Yakone, came to an end.
