The Tantabus was a magical entity of Princess Luna's creation and is the main antagonist of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?". It was meant to trap her in a forever nightmare to remind her of the pain and suffering she unleashed on her people.
History[]
Guilty of her past crimes as Nightmare Moon, Luna created the Tantabus to forever haunt her nightmares to feel the suffering she had caused and forces her to relive the nightmare with the Tantabus. However, when it escapes her mind and shifts it's attention to the Mane Six's minds and infects their dreams Luna links all the minds of the sleeping ponies in Ponyville to fight it. However the creature grows after feeding off Luna's fears and nearly escaped to the real world. This was realized by Spike and Twilight Sparkle, who convinced Luna that all the pain and suffering was of nightmare Moon's actions and not hers, because she had indeed changed. Accepting it, the Tantabus shrunk in size and was absorbed back into Princess Luna, who was now at peace with herself and dreamt of a tranquil scene.
