Background[]

Personality[]

Suki being happy

Suki dislikes it when people underestimate her for being a female warrior because she will not take it kindly when people insult her because of her gender. This is proven when Sokka doubted that she could be a warrior just because she was a girl. However, Suki teaches Sokka that gender doesn't matter.

Instead, she proves to be a capable warrior on her own. She is also best defined by her bravery, selflessness and nobility. When Suki found an abandoned Appa, she had seen how people previously treated him.

The next day, the Gaang found Aang's room empty. Suki and the rest of Team tried looking for Aang but they found no trace of him. However, Sokka saw that Momo was missing too and assumed that Appa ate the flying lemur. Suki and Sokka didn't get along at first

Suki first meets Sokka when she and her Kyoshi Warriors ambush and arrest Team Avatar for trespassing on their lands.  She is immediately offended by Sokka's sexism, and gets back at him by threatening to feed him to the Unagi. Suki is further disgusted by Sokka's sexist comments when he tries to flirt with her in the other Warriors after seeing them train.Suki humiliates him in front of the girls in order to teach him a lesson and show to him that females have the same right to being warriors as men do. A remorseful Sokka came to ask Suki to train him in the ways of the Kyoshi warriors after  he apologize to the way he treated her. She made him wear a Kyoshi warriors' dress and makeup and taught him how to fight. As the two sparred, Suki was surprised when Sokka subdued her but she passed it off as him just getting lucky. When Zuko and the Fire Nation came to Kyoshi Island looking for Aang and his team, Suki and Sokka parted ways but not before sharing a kiss.

Sokka and Suki share a kiss, cementing their relationship and feelings for each other.

In Book 2, Suki and Sokka reunited but he didn't recognize her without her makeup until Suki kissed him. When the family Team Avatar was traveling with lost their passports, they were forced to go trough the serpents pass. Fearful of Sokka getting killed, Suki adorned her warrior outfit and decided to accompany them on their journey. However, Sokka became paranoid over Suki's safetas they went through the Pass. When Suki confronted Sokka about why he was being overprotective, Sokka admitted, to her surprise, that the reason w he acted this way was due to him failing to protect Princess Yue, the first girl he loved, during the siege of the North.  However he didn't say her name out loud. Suki understood but told him that he needed to understand that she can be careful. During this romantic moment, Sokka and Suki were about to kiss under the moon. However Sokka turned away because he felt kissing Suki underneath the Moon was betraying Yue.

After helping Team Avatar make their way across the serpent's pass, Suki parted ways with Sokka because she needed to get back to the other Warriors. Before she left, Suki  admitted to Sokka that she only came along so she could protect him. Suki blushed ad she apologized to Sokka for coming on him last night but to her surprise, Sokka kissed her. During the Siege of Ba Sing Se, Sokka admitted that he and Suki were "kind of" together. He didn't learn of her true fate until the day of the Black Sun when Sokka, Toph and Aang confronted Azula. The princess mocked Sokka, by mentioning that Suki was her "favorite" prisoner and how Suki insisted her boyfriend was going to save her. Suki and Sokka reunited at the Boiling Rock, where the two performed a jailbreak with Hakoda, a newly reformed Prince Zuko and another prisoner Chit Sang. The two officially began dating even well into the post-war efforts.

Despite their open, romantic relationship, Sokka apparently never told Suki about his relationship with the Princess Yue. She learned about it when they were watching a terrible play put on by the Ember Island players. As Suki teased him about it, Sokka immediately shushed her, causing Suki to huff and cross her arms in jealousy. After the defeat of the Fire Lord, Sokka was glad to see Suki had returned to her old uniform. When he saw Ty Lee "pretending" to be a Kyoshi warrior again, Suki affirmed that the girl had truly become one of them.

Former Enemies; Sister in arms

Ty Lee and Suki were initially enemies because they were both on opposing sides; Ty Lee with the Fire Nation and Suki with the Avatar and his allies. They first met when Ty Lee, Azula and Mai fought the Kyoshi Warriors when they were defending Appa from them. They later encountered each other again at the Boiling Rock, where Suki and Ty Lee fought head on. This was the last time they saw each other as enemies, for Ty Lee would reform after she betrayed Azula in order to protect Mai. Ty Lee was imprisoned with the other Kyoshi Warriors and bonded with the girl sby teaching them chi blocking. Afterwards, Suki welcomed her into their group, even defending her from Sokka when he accused Ty Lee of impersonating a Kyoshi warrior again.

Now as one of the many warriors under her command, Suki considered Ty Lee as one of them, and this time not as an enemy, but a friend and sister in arms. During tension between the Earth and Fire Nation, Ty Lee and Suki were chosen by Mai to be Zuko's bodyguards and they took their job very seriously. When Ty Lee left to "find herself" after growing disatisified with her own identity, Ty Lee ultimately decided ot rejoin the Kyoshi Warriors, where Suki warmly welcomed her back into their group.
