Stiles Stilinski is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Lydia Martin) of the MTV series Teen Wolf. He is the best friend of Scott McCall, which is a friendship that makes them as close as brothers. He is also the ex-boyfriend of Malia Tate, and the husband of Lydia Martin. Stiles is a former student at Beacon Hills High School and the son of Beacon County's Sheriff Stilinski.
He is portrayed by Dylan O'Brien, who also portrayed Thomas in Maze Runner and voiced Bumblebee in the Transformers reboot films.

Casting
Evan Peters & Noah Centineo each auditioned for the role of Stiles Stilinski, but were ultimately not chosen for the role.[1] Dylan O'Brien auditioned for the role of Scott McCall; however, he felt drawn to Stiles' character instead and he got the role.
History
Personality
Stiles is initially introduced as Scott’s trouble-making best friend with a quick wit, a sarcastic sense of humor, and a mischievous streak about him. As a child, his mother nicknamed him “Mischief” after Stiles did because he could not pronounce his real name. As such, he lives true to his nickname; however, he always had a good heart. He is also resourceful, intuitive, and intelligent. He gets good grades in school; on the final question on his midterm exam, Stiles detailed the entire history of male circumcision even though Bobby Finstock taught economics. He also tended to get jealous of any relationships his closest friends had. For example, Stiles would get jealous watching Lydia dating Jackson due to the boy's shared feelings for her. He would also get upset whenever Scott formed bonds with other people, such as Allison and Derek. He would sometimes glare at Allison whenever she and Scott had previously shown signs sofa affection and didn't' get along with Isaac due to his growing friendship with Scott.
Unlike Scott, who is more trusting of people, Stiles is more apprehensive and cautious when it comes to strangers. However, when they prove to be well-intentioned people or trustworthy allies, Stiles will come up to trust them. For example, Stiles was cautious of Derek in the first three seasons, when he and Scott first met him, even suspecting him of killing Laura. It temporarily got worse for the two of them when Derek thought Lydia was the Kanima and plotted to kill her. However, he slowly started trusting Derek when Stiles realized he was doing the right thing such as their shared brotherly relationship with Scott and the rest of the Pack. In Season 3b, Stiles was very cautious of Kira on the first day they met her and even got more suspicious of her when she proved to be a supernatural creature. Stiles warned Scott not to get closer to Kira until they knew whether she was a "psychotic monster" intending to kill them all. However, by Season 4, Stiles changed his mind about Kira after it was proven that she was a Thunder Kitsune and she aided the McCall pack in exorcising the Nogitsune from Stiles' body.
However, he is also actively anxious, hyperactive, and curious; this anxiety mostly was born due to his mother's passing. Since becoming aware of the supernatural world, Stile’s anxiety became worse, especially after his friend Allison died; due to the Nogitsune being in his system he became darker.
Because of this anxiety, Stiles can often become so overwhelmed by trauma that he both physically and verbally lashes out at those around him, whether they are friend or foe, as evidenced by Stiles tackling Scott after his father, Noah, was attacked by a Chimera, despite knowing that Scott, too, was in danger from Theo's machinations as well at the same time that the Sheriff was hurt, preventing Scott from doing anything to help him due to being trapped in the high school with Mountain Ash.
Despite Stiles' anxiety and his increasingly violent reactions to bad news, Stiles is a very loyal person who would do anything to protect his loved ones, even if it means giving up his life to do so. Since his return from the Phantom Train Station, where he was trapped for three months, Stiles has demonstrated a calmer and more content state of mind,

Now his hair is usually spiked or often gelled back similar to Scott's.
In terms of clothing, he mostly wore hoodies, flannel button-ups, baseball-style t-shirts, and slim-cut jeans with Vans sneakers or Converse high-tops; he wore the lacrosse school uniform when playing the games.
