Splinter is the overarching protagonist of Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles duology.

He is a mutant rat, adoptive father, and sensei of the Ninja Turtles. He raises them into adolescent fighters to combat the Foot Clan and protect New York. Shredder is his nemesis and rival, though in this incarnation the two have no explicit history.He and his sons were saved by a young April O'Neil,a debt he never forgot and seems to treat her as is she were a daughter.

he is voiced by Tony Shalhoub who also portrayed Adrian Monk (the title protagonist of the USA series Monk)
