The Sorting Hat is a magical item featured in the Harry Potter franchise. It's sole purpose was to sort students at Hogwart School of Witchcraft and Wizardry into other houses. Created by the founders of Hogwarts, Gryffindor enchanted it to hide his magical sword. It could only talk if the user wore it, as Harry had to put it on to speak with him in The Chamber of Secrets.
