Personality[]

There's nothing wrong with dreams.
―Soren

In the books, Soren is a family owl. Soren loves his little sister Eglantine more than anything in the world, and remains deeply concerned about her after he got snatched. After the deaths of their parents, Soren and Eglantine considered the only family they had left. During The Shattering, Soren was dismissive of Eglantine's claims that their mother was still alive and concerned for her mental state. A reason Soren didn't believe her was the fact that he had seen their mother's ghost. His suspicions prove to be correct when they find out that their sister-in-law Nyra has been posing as Marella. In spite of Kludd attempting to kill Soren, the young owl didn't want to kill his own brother. Twilight knew this and killed Kludd for Soren so he didn't live with the guilt.

He was described as a good father towards his daughters, loved his nephew Coryn as a son, and a lover of the arts, like his wife, Pelli, who doted her husband. He also has a love for flying into storms and colliering and was very outspoken. He also has a close relationship with the late Lyze of Kiel prior to the latter's death.

As a hero, Soren is brave and noble and usually talks things out with his enemies.

Physical Appearance[]

In the first six books, Soren had the mind-set and mannerisms of a teenager in human years. He is a young barn owl with white heart-shaped face and white front with black speckles on chest to stomach and golden-brown wings with black and white speckles. He also has tannish yellow patches around his eyes and bears a peach pink beak.

It was pointed out in the books and shown in the movie that Soren highly resembles his father. Soren's daughter, Bell, had a strong resemblance to her father. Her eyes have the same tilt as her father's, and her facial disk rim bears the same speckle pattern his does.
