Skales is a major antagonist turned protagonist in Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, serving as the secondary antagonist of Season 1, a major antagonist in Season 2, and a supporting character in Seasons 3, 4, 7, 11, 14 and 15.
He is the current king of the Serpentine, an ally and former enemy of the Ninja, the general of the Hypnobrai, the husband of Selma, and the father of Skales Jr.

After Garmadon declares himself as the new leader of the Serpentine, Skales gets upset. In order to gain leverage, he decides to take Lloyd hostage. He sends his soldiers to distract the ninja (who are already overworked due to taking on many jobs to make rent rather than training Lloyd). He attacks Lloyd in the ninjas' apartment but Lloyd can't escape because of the security lock refusing to let him leave. Fortunately, Nya and Wu arrive and take Skales to jail. The Ninja return, where Wu and Nya schools them for their recklessness before the Ninja decide to go to the old apartment they were offered earlier.
Skales is later broken out and trapped in the Stone Army's tomb
Season 15[]
When Ninjago City was crystalized, Skales and several Hypnobrai managed to escape to safety, although they had to leave their village and leave some of their kind in a state of crystal zombies. Sometime after their abandonment of their settlement, Lloyd and Garmadon came across the crystallized Serpentine.
Later, Skales and the other Serpentine aided the Ninja in the effort to retake Ninjago City fromt he Overlord.
