He was unfortunately murdered by his own cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange in the fifth book during the Battle at the Department of Mysteries. However, his spirit continues to watch over Harry.
In 2017, Ginny and Harry named their first son after Harry's father and godfather, James Sirius.
Sirius Black was born into the Noble House of Black, a long line of pure blood wizards to Walburga and Orion Black. He had a younger brother, Regulus. When he was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor, where he became best friends with Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and James Potter (the one he was closest to). The four boys were part of a secret member organization, the Marauders formed by him, James, Lupin and Pettigrew to accommodate Lupin's lycanthropy. They learned how to turn into animals.
During their time in Hogwarts, they often bullied Severus Snape, who developed a hatred of the quartet.
After Lily and James were killed by Lord Voldemort, he took the fall for Peter Pettigrew's "murder" and twelve other Muggles, earning him a life sentence in Azkaban.
