Silver is an element featured in Teen Wolf and is an important item in the second half of the third season. It is the only weakness of the Oni and used by the Argents. Their name, which means "silver" in French, is the reason why Silver bullets are rumored to be the only weaknesses of werewolves.
History[]
According to legends, Silver bullets are the only thing capable of killing werewolves. Stiles and Scott first assumed that Derek Hale was shot by a silver bullet. However, Derek quickly debunked the theory. According to Jennifer Blake, it was actually the hunter family, the Argents, that was a "weakness" to werewolves, as "argent" means "silver" in French. Despite the story being a rumor, the Argent's forged silver bullets as testament and commitment to the code, as seen with Chris Argent when he turned eighteen. However, an Argent does not have to necessarily make a silver bullet. When Allison turned eighteen, she forged silver arrowheads because her weapon of choice is a bow and arrow. It also signified the hunting training completed.
It is also the Oni's one true weakness, as Allison managed to figure this out by remembering her father's silver bullets could damage the Oni's mask. However, it didn't remain in the Oni long enough for Chris to kill it. After Allison's death, Chris used the silver arrows to kill several Oni.
In Teen Wolf: The Movie, Melissa learned how t use a crossbow and ired several silver arrowheads at the Oni. Allison did the exact same thing.
