Sigrid is a supporting character in The Hobbit film trilogy, portrayed by Peggy Nesbitt. She appears in The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies.

Background[]

Sigrid is the daughter of Bard and sister of Bain and Tilda. She tended the family's house in Lake-town and looked after her younger sister Tilda while Bard was away at work.

Appearances[]

The Hobbit (film trilogy)[]

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug[]

Sigrid first appears in The Desolation of Smaug, welcoming her father, Bard and brother Bain home. However, she is shocked to find that they have smuggled thirteen dwarves and their companion, Bilbo Baggins, into their home.

While Thorin and Company leave behind Bofur, Fíli, and Óin to take care of a sick Kíli, Sigrid helps tend to the dwarves when the family hears the dragon, Smaug awaken due to Bilbo accidentally waking the dragon up. Bard reveals to his children that he is going to kill the dragon before it can hurt anyone. When her father did not return and only her brother did, Sigrid yells for him, but does not see her father coming when an Orc jumps down and scares her. Sigrid attempts to keep the Orc at bay by closing the door, but soon finds the house is under attack. During the fight, Legolas and Tauriel rescue the family and Thorin's remaining companions.

Sigrid and Tilda later helps Tauriel with healing Kili by holding him still as the elf heals him. However, they panic when they hear that Smaug is coming to destroy Lake-town.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies[]

In the continuation of the previous film, Sigrid, her family and their allies evacuate the town but Sigrid's younger brother, Bain runs off to help their father, who intends to vanquish Smaug once and for all. They are reunited with their father and brother later in the morning. As Bard is appointed the leader, Sigrid presumably watches over her younger sister.

During the battle of the Five Armies, Sigrid, Tilda and Bain are suddenly cornered by Orcs. However, their father rescues them.

After the battle, Sigrid joins the others in honoring those who have fallen in the conflict.

Trivia[]

  • In the original script, Sigrid was Bard's wife and mother to Bain and Tilda, but was changed to his daughter at Luke Evans' request, and Peter Jackson agreed to that they would struggle without a Matriarch.
  • She's original to the movies and doesn't appear in the book.
