Shoni is a character in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance comics that serve as a prequel to the television series of the same name.
Role in the comics[]
When Ordon returns home to Shoni, he prepares to leave for his quest and tells his wife of Fara's request to find the Dual Glaive, which can be found below in the Caves of Grot. Shoni is skeptic of the blade's existence, but Ordon tells his wife that Vala requested it, which is why he must go. Helping her husband with her armor, Shoni is told by Ordon that he never felt he was fit for home life. Shoni is left loss for words before she says that he married her regardless. She hopes that one day, Ordon will find another excuse to remain off the battlefield and come abck to her. However, Ordon reveals that she is the reason why his greatest joy whenever he returns and that he needs nothing else in life. He gives her a goodbye kiss and promises to live in peace with her once the Arathim are destroyed. (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance 1)
Eventually, Shoni gave birth to their son, Rian in Stone-in-the-wood and died before the series began. Due to hoping that there was something that stopped Ordon from going on the battlefield, Shoni possibly saw their son as one of the reasons.
When travelling with Maudra Fara when she was still a princess, Ordon told the young princess that she reminded him of his wife because of her stubbornness. He realized he wanted to have children with her.
Sometime after the first battle of Stone-in-the-wood, Shoni and Ordon decide to add more to their little family and she reveals her desire to have a son and name him Rian.
Eventually, Shoni gives birth to a son and names him after the Old Gelfling word "Rian".
