Seladon I is a minor antagonist of The Dark Crystal. She was an unnamed Maudra of the Vapra Clan and All-Maudra of the entire Gelfling race, who lived during the late Age of Division.
History[]
Seladon was respected by her courtiers as a kind and brave ruler, skilled with a spear and unmatched in her ability to traverse Raunip's Pass with ease. She was also the dearest friend of her advisor, Dot'leth. The All-Maudra was, nevertheless, a cold and dismissive mother, who mocked her daughter's inability to match her skill in flying. Additionally she was neglectful of her Sifan constituents, on whose vessels she would never deign to set foot on. She was also a staunch conservative, having her throne decorated with flowers in the manner of the Ha'rar traditionalists, just as her ancestors did, and did not heed her non-Vapran subjects expressing concern that her reign was eroding their distinctive cultures. Despite her harsh mother, Kam'lu and Mayrin had three daughters, their eldest named after the All-Maudra.
