Sebastien Valet, also known as the Beast of Gévaudan or La Béte du Gévaudan, is the overarching antagonist of the MTV series, Teen Wolf, serving as one of the two main antagonists of Season 5 (alongside the Dread Doctors) and one of the two overarching antagonists of Season 6 (alongside the Dread Doctors).
He was the brother of Marie-Jeanne Argent and a distant ancestor of the Argent family. As the demonic werewolf, La Bête, Sebastien terrorized North America and France, killing millions of innocent people. However, his reign of terror came to an end, when his sister killed him with a spear and punished him with "damnatio memoriae", where everyone erased his name from anything that beared his name including official records, documentations and his own letter to his sister Marie. To further make sure her brother's name was erased from history and distance herself from her family's past, Marie-Jeanne eventually married Henri and took his last name.
The Dread Doctors led by Sebastien's friend Marcel briefly resurrected him in autumn of 2012 in the successful Chimera Mason Hewitt. However, he was defeated for good when Lydia Martin freed Mason from the Beast and Scott McCall used Marie-Jeanne's spear to kill the Beast once and for all as Jordan Parrish restrained it with his Hellhound abilities.

Some sources also erroneously claimed that Henri Argent was the one to kill the Beast and not Marie-Jeanne.
Season 5[]
Second legacy[]
Legacy[]
With Mason saved, the McCall Pack emerged from a near victory. His action of hurting Hayden Romero later led Scott McCall to finally give her the bite, making Hayden as Scott's second Beta.
Additionally, Stiles revealed to Lydia that the real reason that Sebastien didn't nearly killed Scott was because of Scott's memories of Allison, who Sebastien mistook as his sister due to their similarities.
When Liam was in an argument with Mason and Corey, the Werewolf accused Corey of just standing by and doing nothing when they were fighting Sebastien.
After Theo Raeken was released from "the underground", he lost all the powers he stole from Josh and Tracy, which he took during his futile attempt to steal Sebastien's powers.
Sebastien's brief reign of terror in Beacon Hills and his horrific murders and crimes left many citizens of the town emotionally scarred for life. Among these people, there were numerous students like Nolan Holloway and Sydney and staff members of Beacon Hills High School, including Lydia's mother Principal Natalie Martin. The authorities led by Noah Stilinski and Jordan Parrish reassured the traumatized civillians that the creature terrorizing them was a giant bear, a lie that did not convince many people, such as Nolan, Sydney and their fellow high school students.
Tamora Monroe, who had succeeded Natalie Martin as the high school's guidance counselor, revealed to be among the Beast's victims during the events of A Credible Threat. Despite the Beast's heightened senses, Monroe managed to survive by burying herself underneath her dead colleagues and students and playing dead. She witnessed the arrival of Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski and Liam Dunbar as well as the appearance of the Beast's rival, the Hellhound Jordan Parrish. After Parrish departed to pursue the Beast, the McCall Pack members believed there were no survivors and left the scene. Monroe harboured resentment towards them, believing they valued the secrecy of their supernatural identities over the increasingly bigger number of human casualties.
Though she was rescued and sent to emergencies by Sheriff Stilinski, Monroe became determined to exterminate any supernatural being. Ask of this was in the name of what she believed to be the greater good of her hometown and the rest of the world. She learned the necessary abilities to hunt and kill supernaturals. Her hunting skills soon caught the eye of corrupt, Veteran Argent Hunter, Gerard Argent. The old hunter aided Monroe in building an army of fellow supernatural Hunters to create a worldwide genocide against the supernatural community. However, they wanted to deal with Scott and his pack first.
They received the assistance of the fear-inducing powers of ancient shapeshifter Anuk-ite. It amplified and fed off the pre-existing fear of the civilians of Beacon Hills. This allowed the army to eventually acquire thousands of members from all corners of the world. However, Nolan Holloway questioned Monroe's methods and he would eventually defect from her side to the McCall Pack. Gerard and Tamora's initial plans failed when Scott cornered the demonic Anuk-ite to the library so his best friend Stiles Stilinski could kill the creature with Mountain Ash. By 2015, Monroe's Army had become a worldwide campaign despite Gerard's death at the hands of his Werejaguar daughter, Kate. This development would force the McCall Pack and their allies to recruit more supernatural orphans to match Monroe's Army.
However, between the end of the series and the revival film, the McCall Pack and their allies from other supernatural communities defeated Monroe and her army.

Trivia[]
- The story of the Beast and Marie-Jeanne is based on an actual legend. However, instead of being her brother, the Beast was an unidentified werewolf who attacked Marie and her younger sister.
- Sebastien could be the overarching antagonist of a the series as a whole, given that he was mentioned as the reason why Henri wanted the creature dead by Allison in season 1. It killed his wife and his four children before Marie-Jeanne.
- Additonally, Sebastien killing A young boy, Emile caused Marie outrage and leading a hunting party against it. She and Henri combined to their efforts together to defeat Sebastien once and for all. This led to the formation of the Argent Hunters and their code of conduct.
- The Beast's attack on the school during the second half of the season caused Tamora Monroe begin her vendetta against all Supernatural creatures because Noah Stilinski and the McCall pack didn't make sure everyone was safe and covered it up as a bear attack.
- It also caused many of the students such as Nolan Holloway became Supernatural Hunters and the Anuk-ite using their fear to fuel their battles with the werewolves of Beacon Hills.
- There seems to be an error / inconsistency with the slaying of the beast. In Season 1, Allison stated that the Beast was killed by Henri Argent, the "Wolf Hunter". However, both Gerard and Chris contradicts this, stating it was actually a woman who killed the creature.
- "The Maid of Gévaudan" episode confirms that Marie, not Henri, killed the Beast. However, Henri did provide her information about a werewolf's weakness.
- Additionally, because there are various accounts of the Beast's origin story and Gerard seems to be the only one who knows the truth identity of the Beast and what really happened.
