After seeing Peter's true plans to steal Scott's powers, Malia immediately turned against her father. coating to side with her friends. Scott and Malia's friendship remained strong through the first half of Season 5, but their friendship fell apart; this was due to Theo Raeken's manipulations and Malia wanting to kill her mother. However, when given the chance, Malia decided not to and helped save Scott's boss, Deaton from La Bete instead. The pack came together once again, Scott, Malia, and their friends saved Lydia from Eichen House.

During the final battle with the Anuk-ite, Gerard Argent and Tamora Monroe, Scott blinded himself so he could fight the Anuk-ite. However, it was Malia's kids that activated his Regenerative Healing Factor and restored Scott's vision. In the two-year flashforward, Scott and Malia were still boyfriend and girlfriend.
Throughout the series, Scott and Malia have been one of the longest-romantic couples on the show. Since the start of their relationship in Season 6B, Scott has become Malia's own anchor, as he is often the one who calms her down when he speaks her name or grabbed her hand.
