The complex relationship of Scott McCall and Deucalion from the TV series Teen Wolf
History[]
Prior to his introduction to the series, Deucalion heard rumors recently bitten werewolf Scott McCall resisting his alpha Peter Hale and defeating Gerard Argent. Like Alan Deaton, Deucalion believed the young werewolf to be a True Alpha, a Beta who became an Alpha through a strong will rather than stealing powers. Deucalion decided to travel to Beacon Hills to recruit Scott and the boy's mentor and ally, newly ascended Alpha Derek Hale, who was also the son of Deucalion's old friend, Talia Hale into the ranks. However, he still feels threatened by Scott. This plan started at the end of Season 2 when Alpha Pack captured Scott's friends and Derek's Betas, Vernon Boyd, and Erica Reyes.
Deucalion and Scott first properly met in the elevator during the events of "Tattoo," but Scott was not aware of his identity at the time. Deucalion asked for assistance on the floor. Before he could decline, Deucalion placed his hand on his shoulder and squeezed it, forcing Scott to reluctantly lead him down the hallway. As he did so, he sighed and drooped his head, as he was in a hurry to find Isaac before his accelerated healing ability drew suspicions from the hospital staff. Derek warned Scott and Stiles that Deucalion led the Alpha Pack that captured three werewolves, including Cora, Boyd, and Erica. The young woman, Braeden, believed that Deucalion was threatened by Scott because of the man he would grow up to be. However, Deucalion withheld his intentions with Scott, and said he was not afraid of a sixteen-year-old boy, resolving with the advice someone gave him: "To eliminate the threat, get someone else to do it for you," meaning he planned to have Derek eliminate Scott with the rest of his Betas.
Scott learned of Deucalion's identity in "Unleashed" when Deucalion stopped Aiden and Ethan from attacking both Scott and Isaac. Scott recognized him as the same blind man he met on the elevator. Ironically, his third meeting with Deucalion happened on an elevator after they met again after Scott left Allison and Chris' apartment.
Psychologically, Merrin believes Deucalion's need to have Scott as a member of the Alpha Pack to be an obsession and want to make his own pack each absolute perfection. Deucalion both coveted Scott and felt threatened by him. If Scott wasn't willing to join his pack, he would force Scott to kill to destroy his potential to become a True Alpha so that no one else could share in his power.
