Scott McCall and Alan Deaton on Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf: The Movie.
History[]
In the years that has followed, Deaton has been Scott's closest friend and mentor. When Scott was 15, he began working at the Beacon Hills animal clinic with Dr Alan Deaton, who thought Scott was a model employee and the only teenager who never slacked off. However unknown to Scott at the time, Deaton was aware of the werewolf community due to being the Druid Emissary of Talia Hale's pack ten years prior to the series. Despite trying to leave that part of his life behind, Deaton was drawn back into the supernatural due to the continuous werewolf attacks, and Noah often asking Deaton about them. While Stiles and Derek believed Deaton was the werewolf killing everyone, Scott was adamant that it was not his mentor. After that night Peter Hale attacked the school, Deaton suspected Scott was bitten and in fact, a True Alpha, the rarest of all werewolves. Finding Scott wounded in the woods after being shot by the Argents, Deaton took him back to the animal clinic and cured him of the wolfsbane poisoning. Despite Scott seeing his mentor being "just a vet" and his boss being previously accused of being the werewolf, Deaton hinted his role was important somehow. He even protected Scott from Peter Hale when he left mountain Ash to prevent Peter from kidnapping his protege.
Despite everything happening, after Peter's defeat, Alan had trouble confronting his past. He tried to avoid the subject of Scott's lycanthropy and why he was aware of the supernatural. Instead he tried keeping their relationship on an employer/employee basic. However, with the threat of Gerard Argent and the Kanima's murdering spree, Deaton realized he couldn't avoid the subject much longer. He began trusting Scott with the story. When Scott had been injured by Victoria Argent in her attempt to kill him, Derek took Scott to Deaton, who healed him yet again.
According to Stiles, the doctor had been a father figure for Scott for the longest time. When the Alpha pack came to Beacon Hills to recruit Scott and Derek into their ranks, Deaton helped his sister and Kali heal Ennis, only out of obligation to protect Scott from their wrath. As the McCall pack grew, Alan became the druid emissary for Scott and his friends, often advising them on dealing with the supernatural.
