Roles[]
She first appears as a cameo character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Quicksilver) of Avengers: Age of Ultron, a major character in both Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, and a minor character in Avengers: Endgame. She is also the titular protagonist of the WandaVision series and the main antagonist of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Background[]
Wanda was born in Sokovia to unnamed parents and had a twin brother named Pietro Maximoff. Unknown to everyone in her family, Wanda was born with dormant witch powers. To have a better understanding of English, Wanda would watch American sitcoms with her family, such as The Dick Van Dyke show and Malcolm in the Middle. However, they were orphaned when a bomb shell hit their apartment as they watched TV with their families and immediately blamed Tony Stark because they were his weapons as Wanda saw Stark Industries written on the side. They began rebelling against the Starks by joining rallies started by HYDRA. The twins decided to be experimented on, where they were the only survivors of the experiments and became known as Quicksilver and Wanda became known as the Scarlet Witch.
Physical appearance[]
Wanda is a beautiful woman of Sokovian descent with long brown hair, green eyes and fair skin. Her eyes glow red whenever she uses her powers.
She also sported a thick European accent but had to don an American one when she and Vision went into hiding.
Personality[]
Before joining the Avengers, Wanda was aggressive, angry, passionate, guilty, self-doubt, serious, manipulative, and hot-tempered. She did not like them, or the United States of America. However, after learning what Ultron planned to do to the world, Scarlet Witch joined the Avengers in order to save her hometown and the world that she and her brother were raised in. She is also remorseful of her actions, as shown when she blamed herself for inadvertently causing the deaths of several civilians in Civil War. It is shown that Wanda is very protective of her teammates, when she throws Proxima Midnight into a Wakandan machine to protect Natasha and Okoye. She has also fallen in love with Vision, despite him being an android.
However, after being brought back to life Wanda showed her vengeful side towards Thanos because he took everything from her, referring to Vision's. The loss caused Wanda to create her own reality where Vision was still alive and they had a family of her own.

Avengers: Age of Ultron[]
Initially, Wanda and Pietro allied themselves with Ultron due to their hatred of Tony Stark and the Avengers. When she encountered the Avengers Wanda sent them to live in their worst memories. However, Wanda and her brother learned that Ultron planned to destroy humanity after Wanda snuck a peak into Vision's head before he was brought to life. This resulted in the twins turned against him and joined the Avengers. She also witnessed the birth of Vision. However, Wanda watched in fear as the being initially attacked Thor before looking over the city of New York and calming down. The being introduced himself to them, calling itself Vision. The Maximoffs and the Avengers continued to be wary of Vision, with Scarlet Witch noting that she had seen the destruction of the world in its head but he told her to look again. Eventually, Vision convinced the team that he was on their side and proved his worthiness by picking up Mjølnir and handing it to Thor
During the Battle at Sokovia, when Wanda was too scared, Clint inspired her to come out and fight to join the Avengers rather than wait for her brother. Wanda helped in evacuating the city and protecting the key that could destroy Sokovia and the world. However, when Pietro was killed by Ultron, Wanda cried in pain, feeling a part of her died with her brother and set her off a berserker rage. When she approached Ultron, he told her to flee the city so she wouldn't go. However, Wanda still was not convinced as she was dead already as she proceeded in ripping out his robotic heart, replying that was what it was like when her brother died. After the city was evacuated, Vision saved Wanda and flew her to safety.
After her brother's death, Wanda joined the Avengers.
Captain America: Civil War[]
After becoming a member of the Avengers, Wanda sends Crossbones into a building but at the cost of many people's lives. Despite this, Steve comforts her that she was only doing her best. Because of the damage the heroes did, the Sokovia Accords were created. However, Wanda refuses to sign the Accords and sides with Captain America against Tony Stark. However, this puts her at odds with her lover, Vision, who is on Tony Stark's side. Despite this, they still love each other. After Civil War, Wanda and Vision resume their relationship and leave America and go into hiding.
Avengers: Infinity War[]
Avengers: Endgame[]
In Avengers: Endgame, Wanda is one of the victims of the Snap that is resurrected by the Hulk with the use of all the Infinity Stones in the Stark Gauntlet.
During the Battle of Earth, Wanda approaches Thanos and proclaims angrily he will pay for what he did to Vision. Despite Thanos not knowing who she is, Wanda says he will know what she is talking about one day. However, Thanos subdues her.
Wanda later attends Stark's funeral and is comforted by Hawkeye and in return, Wanda does the same for Clint, saying Natasha would be proud of him.
WandaVision[]
In the aftermath of Endgame, Wanda, in a fit of grief, subconsciously creates an alternate reality in the town of Westview where she and Vision are happily married and seen living in the town and trapping its inhabitants. Meanwhile, she is still grieving over Vision and suddenly comes face to face with a version of her brother, "Pietro." Additionally, she created twin children, Billy and Tommy and found S.W.O.R.D. was attempting to break into her allusion, aware of the presence of Monica Rambeau. In the series, she was befriended by Agnes, a nosy neighbor and learned her powers were off Chaos Magic and faced off against Agatha Harkness. During the series finale, Wanda tricks Agatha into absorbing her powers, only to reveal that she actually cast runes on the Hex that will render Agatha's powers useless, before embracing her role as the Scarlet Witch before defeating Agatha and reverting her back to Agnes, the nosy neighbor. Taking Billy and Tommy gone and into bed, Wanda is too heartbroken to see them live. As Vision and the reality she created disappears, the two lovers bid each other a final farewell and she sees the house has reverted back to the pile of rubble it was before the spell was cast. As she exits the town, Wanda sees that the townspeople do not forgive her for putting them under her spell. She and Monica have a heart-to-heart conversation before going their separate ways to learn more about her powers. Now alone, Wanda lives in a cabin in the woods and commits to a life of seclusion, studying the Darkhold while Astral Protecting herself, only to hear the cries of Billy and Tommy.
