Rei Hino is one of the main protagonists of the live-action series, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. She is the guardian of Fire and Passion and daughter of Takashi Hino whose mother died when she was very young. She is the current incarnation of Sailor Mars.
Personality[]
Rei is a loner, putting her trust in other people. She works in her family shrines, stares into the flames of a fire predicting the future. Despite working with her family, she does not have a close relationship with her father and is devastated by the loss of her mother. To make matters worse, Rei was the only one who was by her mother's side, as Takashi Hino was too busy with parliament when Mrs. Hino passed. Because of this, she is very reluctant to form attachments with others for the fear of possibly getting hurt. She is very reluctant to become friends with the girls in protecting the world and the universe. However, she eventually forms a strong relationship with Minako.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Transformation/Power Summoning: By saying "Mars Power, Make Up" Rei can transform into Sailor Mars
- Pyrokinesis: As the guardian of Fire and Passion, Sailor Mars' powers are fire-based.
- Youma Taisin: A fire-based attack that allows the user to summon a fireball against their common enemy
- Akuryo Taisan: A fire-based power where streams of fire and ofuda emerge. She initially positions her hands, encircles her arms, and draws them towards her abdomen. Subsequently, she extends her arms forward, unleashing a torrent of fire and ofuda from her hands directed at a Youma in Act 4, where she cast a solitary ofuda at the floating leaves.
- Burning Mandala: Rei extends her arms outward and exclaims "BURNING...!" as she brings her arms in front of her, rhythmically moving them in and out while conjuring several small mandalas that encircle her form. Upon the completion of the circle, these mandalas erupt in a brilliant flash of light, transforming into a grand traditional Vajrayana Buddhism mandala and can be used against her enemies. Sailor Mars also used this attack once in the live-action series, against Metalia Endymion.
- Unnamed attack: She used her Sailor Star Tambourine to send red star-shaped energy toward her target
- Precognitive abilities: As the guardian of Fire and Passion, she can see into the future or sense if something is wrong or if a villain i nearby. By looking into the flame, she could predict the future as well.
- Moonlight Attractive Attack: The combined power of all the Sailor Guardians. Sailor Moon holds up her Moonlight Stick, while Sailor Jupiter, Venus, Mars, and Mercury hold up their Star Tambourines.
