Rose"Rosie" Gamgee (nee Cotton) is a fictional character and a minor protagonist in The Lord of the Rings. She is the wife of and chldhood friend of Samwise "Sam" Gamgee and mother of Frodo and Elanor Gamgee

Middle-Earth Film saga[]

The Fellowship of the Ring[]

Rose first appears in the film where she is dancing at Bilbo Baggins' 111th birthday party. From a distance, Sam sees her but is too shy to ask her for a dance. Frodo sees his best friend's stress and tells Sam got dance with Rose, however Sam refuses and claims to get another ale before Frodo grabs onto him and pushes him into the crowd, where he and her dance for a brief while.

The Return of the King[]

Rosie is referenced near the end where Sam remembers her dancing and had ribbons in her hair and admits to Frodo that he wants to marry her.

Rosie physically appears in the film where she is serving at the bar. Sam watches her from a far and drinks the ale. He goes and finally gets the courage to talk to her.

Months later, the two of them marry and later have two children , a son and a daughter. She later appears with their children and the family lives happily ever after
