Rex Igneous is a supporting antagonist in the Netflix TV series, The Dragon Prince. He is the Archdragon of the Earth. He is also the ex-best-friend-turned-rival of the late Avizandum. He attempted to stop Aaravos' plans to get his revenge on the startouch elves for his daughter, Leola's deaths, only to die at Avizandum's hands (who had been corrupted by Aaravos' "Eternal Night" spell.)
He along with Zubeia, Domina Profundis, and Avizandum were honored in a memorial commissioned by Ezran and the heroes to honor the fallen archdragons who gave their lives to defeat Aaravos for a brief time.

Rex Igneous best friends with Avizandum before they turned into enemies
They fought for the throne after Luna Tenebris mysteriously died and the Sunfire queen they trusted to chose as Luna's successor vanished. Aaravos, the archmage was eventually exposed as the one twisting everything.
A young human girl the Orphan Queen exposed his treachery to the other Archdragons. They commissioned a human mage, the Jailer to create a prison for Aaravos. Both Akiyi and The Orphan Queen witnessed the construction of Aaravos's prison. Igneous and the other dragons kept a piece of information that led to the Startouch Elf's prison and Rex Igneous hid away in the depths of the Earth of Umber Tor. Unknown to him, Avizandum was killed by Lord Viren and King Harrow, who sought to avenge his late wife Queen Sarai for both of his sons Ezran and Callum.
Book 4: Earth[]
Team Zym went to see Rex Igneous in his lair to ask about the location of Aaravos's prison.
When they arrived, they brought him various artifacts as gifts, but he found the extra weapons and metals unimpressive since he had plenty already. After trying one of Ezran's brown sludge tarts, he agreed to answer their questions but refused to help find Aaravos's prison, mentioning the dangers involved. When he learned that Zubeia had sent them, he started a long rant about his old rival, Avizandum, making fun of him until Azymondias bit him, revealing that Avizandum was dead. While he expressed his sympathy, he accidentally mentioned having a map, but Claudia, who had come with her friends, quickly put him to sleep. They discovered that the map to Aaravos's prison was on one of Rex Igneous's teeth. Terry used his "goofy goo" to make a copy of the map, and then Rayla stabbed Rex Igneous to wake him up.
Furious, he attacked everyone and focused on Team Zym, but he retreated when Zubeia threatened to use her full power against him. He then went back into Umber Tor, leaving behind the blade Rayla had used to wake him.

- Aang's air glider and Sokka's Boomerang makes a cameo assistance as one of his many treasures.
- Rex is somewhat similar to Wan Shi Tong from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
- They are both beings with infinite knowledge.
- They both require a gift to allow the heroes time to explore their domains (his library and Rex's cave respectively).
- However, both individuals believe that Team Avatar/Zym ends up betraying him so he turns against them.
