Red kryptonite is a form of kryptonite featured in the DC Universe.
Description[]
Effects[]
Red Kryptonite makes Kryptonians lose all of their morality and inhbitions, as well as enhance any negative thought they have. It can also be neutralized by green kryptonite. For example, Kara from Earth-Prime and Clark from Earth-167 both have a small resentment toward being adopted and their adoptive families (Alex for Kara and Martha and Jonathan for Clark)
Red kryptonite also can affect humans; for instance, Lois wore red kryptonite-infected lipstick, which later affected Clark when they kissed. However, it is neutralized
Smallville[]
In Smallville whenever Clark wore red kryptonite, he became a "bad boy" who became violent up to the point where he lashed out on Chloe Sullivan. turning him into an "Evil version" of Clark: greedy, lustful, and selfish. Martha (correctly) assumes that the while the green kryptonite affects him physically, then the red meteor rocks must affect him emotionally. His personality evolves every time Clark embraces his Kryptonian half. He became more rebellious, and enhance his negative thoughts, such as being an orphan and enhancing his dislike of Lionel Luthor. However, as an adult, "Kal" retains Clark's morals, but becomes more ruthless and violent in his methods.
It is down that red Kryptonite can effect humans too, as when Lois used lip stick made from red kryptonite.
The CW[]
On Earth-38 and Earth-Prime, Maxwell Lord created red kryptonite (either by corrupting green kryptonite or making synthetic kryptonite) in an effort to weaken Non and his forces of Kryptonians. However, red k did the opposite. Instead, it unintentionally affected Kara Danvers, who started to lose her rationality, morality and angrily lashed out on the world. Realizing his mistake, Max developed a cure for red k and gave it to the D.E.O in exchange for his freedom. The cure was a red energy blaster that knocked Supergirl unconscious and was expelled from her body in the form of red gas. It freed Kara and returned the young kryptonian to her normal self; however, she was racked with extreme guilt and remorse for her actions.
