Poseidon is one of the Twelve Olympians in ancient Greek religion and mythology, presiding over the sea, storms, earthquakes and horses. He is the second son of Kronos and Rhea and the brother of Zeus, Hades, Hera, Hestia, and Demeter. Additionally he is the main antagonist in the epic poems of The Iliad and The Odyssey.

History[]

Personality[]

Posiedon, was more or less, the most wrathful. Unlike Zeus and Hera, Poseidon and Amphtirite had a more amicable relationship with each other. For instance, Amphitrite would not get angry with her husband when he had children with other women, as long as he came back to her.

Though frequently an absentee parent for most of his children, Poseidon was very protective of them when their lives were threatened. After Polyphemus was blinded by Odysseus, Poseidon cursed Odysseus to never find his way home. He also had a rivalry with Athena since she was chosen to be the patron goddess of Athens. However, they did work together in creating the first chariot. She provided the chariot and Poseidon provided the horses.
