The relationship between Peter Hale and Kate Argent.
History[]
For the events of the series, Kate begins a romantic relationship with Derek to exploit the Hale family's weakness. Somehow Peter was aware of a relationship between the werewolf and the hunter, as revealed in Season 4 with he told Scott that Kate and Derek were once romantically involved. However, considering that Peter stalked Derek during his relationship with Paige, this isn't surprising.
When Kate learned how to kill a werewolf, she set fire to the Hale House and killed most of Peter's family, including his sister and several children, some of whom did not inherit lycanthropy from their parents. Kate Argent's crimes against the Hale pack left Peter severely burned and suffering from the loss of his family members, save for his nieces Cora and Laura and his nephew Derek.
While he was recovering in the Hospital, Peter swore to start a dead pool to kill supernaturals in Beacon Hills and allow him to reshape it in his image. He also blamed his older sister, Talia, believing they would have been strong enough if they had fought against the Argents in the first place. However, Peter had forgotten about his rant and focused his vendetta against Kate and her accomplices. He felt trapped in his mind and body, wishing to harm those who wronged him regardless of their innocence. Peter and Jennifer killed a deer and carved a vendetta spiral in its carcass, successfully luring Laura back to Beacon Hills and Peter stealing her powers. Whether he intentionally killed his niece or not is currently unknown (as werewolves can steal powers from others and not kill them). With these new powers, Peter swore vengeance upon Kate and her family and First expanded his pack by attacking and biting 16-year-old Scott McCall in the woods.
Season 1[]
In Season 1, Kate returns to Beacon Hills to help her family catch the Alpha who has been killing people involved with the fire. Kate, Knowing she is the direct cause of this keeps it from Chris, Victoria, and Allison. Peter first attempted her life when she was driving into town smashing his paws into her window. She later Got out of her car and Kate shot at the Alpha. Despite being provoked, Kate ended up shooting Derek instead. The younger Werewolf showed Scott that Argents were not friendly and that Peter being severely burned in the accident is why wolves never associated with Hunters or more or less dated them.
In the final episodes of season 1, Peter became close to killing Kate but first targeted her accomplices, likely Because he wanted to make her death personal.
During a stand-up between the werewolves and the Argents family, Chris confronted his sister in front of the manner and saw her threatening Scott and Derek with a gun. He threatened to shoot her if she pulled the trigger, but at that moment Peter attacked Chris, Scott, and Allison. As Kate shot at the house, Peter suddenly grabbed her wrist and crushed her gun, causing her to run out of ammunition. He then took the hunter by the throat and took Kate hostage in the burned-down Hale House. Allison came to save Kate, and Peter noted how similar Allison resembled Kate but less damaged. As he had his claws to her throat, Peter forced her to apologize for the complete decimation of his family. Afraid for her life, Kate said "I'm sorry" to Allison. However, Peter realized that Kate wasn't remorseful for her actions when he used his enhanced hearing to listen to her heartbeat, which told Peter that Kate was lying. Unsatisfied and sadistic, Peter proceeded to rip Kate's throat out, seemingly murdering her in front of Allison, who cried out in grief upon seeing Peter kill her. The older werewolf coldly told Allison after he killed her that Kate's apology was not genuine and went to lunge at Kate's niece, intending to either Bite her and turn her into a werewolf or kill her. However, Scott stopped him. With assistance from Jackson, Stiles, and Scott, Allison successfully shot at the Molotov cocktail Peter caught with his hand, successfully burning him. In a twist of irony, Derek killed Peter soon after, stealing his uncle's powers and avenging Laura
However unknown to Peter and most of the group, Kate died but Peter's claws ran so deep into her neck that it caused Kate to turn into a were-jaguar.
Season 4[]
After learning about Kate Argent's transformation into a Werejaguar, Peter Heard that she was having trouble controlling her anger and transformations. He first realized this in the school vault when she tried to steal the Hale family triskellian. Later on in "Orphaned," Kate and her berserker had just come back from a scuffle between them, Scott McCall and his friend/ally and Kate's brother, Chris Argent. Peter offered to train her on how to handle her abilities and she accepted, mostly because he could help her get revenge on Scott and she would allow Peter to steal Scott's powers. However, the Season 4 finale revealed that Once he tried to steal Scott's powers, Peter was planning on betraying Kate and using his newly discovered biological daughter Malia to kill her. However, his efforts were foiled when Scott overcame Kate's berserker spell because of his fraternal love for his new beta Liam. After this, Scott realized that everything was Peter's fault and eventually defeated him in a duel. This is the last time that Kate and Peter interact, as Peter decides to become an ally of the McCall Pack.
Season 6[]
In Season 6, Peter reconciled with Malia and joined the McCall pack against the Argent hunters.
Because of her status as a supernatural, Gerard shot Kate with a yellow Wolfsbane bullet, proving that Peter was indirectly responsible for Gerard's hatred towards his daughter. In retribution, Kate killed him with Chris's consent.

Further Analysis[]
- Peter and Kate are very similar characters; They are both manipulative and vindictive and swear revenge upon those whom they believe had wronged them.
- They both shared a hatred towards their kind and knowingly manipulated one of their younger family members to become just like them (Derek and Allison, who are both victims of their aunt and uncle's manipulations).
- They even try to get their progenies to see their points of view (Derek, Scott, and Allison).
- However, Scott and Allison differ greatly because Scott knows that Peter can't be trusted and his awareness of Peter's true nature contradicts Allison and Derek.
- Derek and Allison are both easily manipulated by their aunts and uncle into believing their side of the story as opposed to Scott's, mainly because Kate and Peter' can exploit Allison and Derek's weaknesses.
- However both Derek and Allison realize that their aunt and uncle have been lying to them and even see them for what they are. Because of Scott.
- Derek is convinced by Scott that Peter was lying about accidentally killing Laura when he presents him with evidence that Peter lied about killing Laura Hale on accident and that Nurse Jennifer purposely burned the spiral into the dead deer to lure her back to town so Peter could steal her power. She also asked for the report from Alan Deaton, further proving to Scott and Derek that Peter was lying.
- Allison finally sees her aunt for the monster she is when she sees Kate lied to her about catching the Betas; they were going to kill Scott and Derek as well.
- However, the difference between the two is Allison and Kate are very close with each other while Derek always has an uneasy alliance with Peter.
- Peter is shown to be driven by a desire for power and revenge, willing to use others to achieve his goals. He offers to train Kate Argent in exchange for her help in stealing Scott's powers, but ultimately plans to betray her and use his own daughter to kill her. However, his plans are thwarted by Scott's love for his pack and his ability to overcome Kate's spell. It showcases Peter's treacherous nature and his willingness to sacrifice others for his own gain, even his own allies. It goes along the lines of themes of betrayal, manipulation, and redemption. It highlights the consequences of Peter's actions and the impact they have on those around him. It also serves as a turning point in the storyline, as Peter's betrayal ultimately leads to his defeat and his alliance with Kate leaves him to decide to align himself with the McCall Pack in later seasons for the sake of Malia.
