Luring the rebels into a trap, Ozai gloated to the rebels that there was no way they would not have succeeded in taking over the capital or killing him, because of the guards in the castle would not have laid down their weapons. As Tan accused the Fire Lord of being a tyrant and one who will not accept Ozai's rule, Ozai told tan that he is bringing unity in the world and glory to the Fire Nation. He says they in the Fire Nation pride themselves on resourcefulness, signaling to Azula who reveals her true identity as the princess, who agrees with her father's statement. However, Tan knows that they may not be able to stop him but there is only one person who can truly end him, bring balance and unity to the world. He proceeds to kill them all with his fireballs, with Azula feeling both uneased and amusemed as her father slaughters them all. The girl feels uneased that the others believe that the Avatar has returned. Azua scoffs at the idea that the Avatar has returned causing Ozai to send all of the guards out of the room so he can have a moment with his daughter.
He shows her a message he received from One of his commanders from the South seas that he doesn't share concern for. Ozai tells Azula that her brother found the Avatar must to her anger.

Personality[]
The Netflix iteration of the character captures many aspects of Ozai's characters from original cartoon while made it more grounded at the same time. Notably, he had more sliver of humanity as shown in his efforts in comforting Iroh during Lu Ten's funeral and having harsh yet initially fair treatment towards his children. Moreover, Ozai's favoritism toward Azula apparently developed after finding Zuko too much of a lost cause to him instead of from start. However his love is confirmed to be conditional as he tries to see who is with as his heir.
