Optimus Primal is the tritagonist of the 2023 film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. He succeeded Apelinq as the leader of the Maximals who can transform into a western lowland gorilla.

He is based on the character of the same name from the 1990s cartoon,Transformers: Beast Wars.

History

Optimus Primal was born on the Maximals' homeworld, where he was named after the great Autobot warrior Optimus Prime. His mentor was Apelinq, the leader of the Maximals before him.
