Opal is a supporting character in the 2012-2014 series, The Legend of Korra. She is an airbending member of the new Air Nation, the daughter of Suyin Beifong and Baatar, half-niece of Lin Beifong, and granddaughter of Toph Beifong. At some point after the insurrection of the Red Lotus, she began a romantic relationship with Bolin which was strained in Book 4 because he sided with the Earth Empire until he rejected Kuvira's methods.
History[]
She and her siblings were raised alongside Kuvira, Su's protege and surrogate daughter. Opal was spoiled as a child and resented Kuvira for some reason, even refusing to acknowledge her as her sister. She played with a dollhouse one day, but when it was Kuvira's time to play, Opal refused to let her. In anger, Kuvira metalbended the dollhouse and Opal snitched on her to their mother. Suyin punished Kuvira for her insubordination by grounding her. Opal asked her mom if Kuvira was going to be further punished. However, Su told her daughter to cut her sister some slack, resulting in Opal stating that Kuvira is not her sister.
