When my father sacrificed himself, when he gave me my extra years, what was I doing with them? I was wasting them. I was drowning myself in this sea of... of pain and darkness and saying, 'Ollie, if you just... If you cross one more name off The List, if you save your city one more time, then you'll absolve yourself of all of this guilt'. And I was wrong. This guilt is never going to go away. It is something that you have to learn to live with. That is why people sacrificed themselves. That is why I sacrificed myself for you, so that in all of this darkness... you... could be a guiding light... a hero."

Biography[]
Background[]
Oliver Jonas Queen was born in 1986 to Moira Dearden and Robert Queen, where he was born into one of the richest families in Sterling City. He was pampered by his parents, and he got away with most of the troubles he caused. As a child, Oliver became best friends with Tommy Merlyn, Laurel Lance and her sister Sara. As the Merlyns and Queens were close, they often treated each other as family. However at age seven, Oliver came to support Tommy, who was suffering a great loss when his mother Rebecca was found murdered in the Glades. Shortly after, Moira grew angry and tired of Robert cheating on her, she had an affair with Malcolm before he left for Nanda Parbat for two years. During that time, Tommy came to live with the Queens for a while, where Robert, Oliver and Moira treated him as family.
Soon family servers started to remain hidden from Oliver. As a young boy, his father had affairs with other women. One of them went on to give birth to Roberts illegitimate daughter - and Oliver's paternal half-brother. Emiko Adachi, In January 21, 1995, Moira gave birth to Oliver's sister, Thea, who he treasured and loved more than anything. Unbeknownst to the two, Moira and Robert knew that the later was not Thea's biological father; Malcolm was. As children, Oliver nicknamed her "Speedy" because she always seemed to be faster than him whenever they chased each other around the house. Every year they had a Christmas tradition of racing each other reaching the last candy canes and had annual parties with their family and friends.
As a young man, Oliver became a party boy, often starting out late and sometimes coming out of Tommy's parties without remembering the events of the night. At some point, Oliver and Tommy became acquainted with McKenna Hall. On one occasion, he punched a paparazzi on the nose with his own camera when the photographer wouldn't leave him alone. He failed out of four Ivy League schools paid for by his parents, only reading ''The Odyssey'' in college. However, Oliver did have some engineering skills due to working with his father, who was an aspiring pilot and sometimes performed his own maintenance with his son. He would use these skills to hotwire Malcolm's expensive cars, resulting in him getting grounded one summer.
In 2005, Oliver would begin dating his longtime friend Laurel, and they fell in love with one another. However, Laurel's father, Quentin, disapproved of their relationship and once threatened to use a taser on Oliver after catching the two in bed together. Despite this, Oliver enjoyed spending time with Laurel and her family as he felt unburdened from being Robert Queen's son, according to Moira. Oliver also held Quentin in high regard, secretly wanting to earn his validation.
On one occasion cheated on Laurel with one of their classmates Samantha Clayton in 2006-2007. Oliver's brief affair with Samantha resulted in her pregnancy with his son William. After Oliver told Moira he got Samantha pregnant, Moira gave Sam two million dollars to tell Oliver she lost the baby and to return to Central City and never speak to Oliver again. As a teenager, Oliver's "loss" both saddening and relieving him, but he would feel differently as an adult, when the truth would later be revealed many years later,
In 2007, after Moira caught Laurel sneaking away to Oliver's room in the Queen Mansion, Laurel suggested that she and Oliver could live in their own home, bringing up how their friends, Ray and Jean, had recently decided to get an apartment together. Oliver initially agreed to moving in with her, but he quickly began having doubts. Rather than talk to Laurel about his doubts, Oliver panicked, causing him to start cheating on her in an effort to back out of the commitment. He hurt his relationship with Laurel by sleeping with Sara, who before had a crush on him, and eventually inviting her to join him on his father's three-week trip on the Queen's Gambit. Before he boarded the Gambit, Laurel visited Oliver to say goodbye and gave him a photograph of herself for when he got lonely overseas.

Bow & arrow: Oliver used several bows and arrows during his time as the vigilante, Arrow. His arrows are color-coded green.
Green Arrow suit
Lian Yu herbs
Shado's Hood: Slade gave Oliver the Green hood that Shado and her father, Yao Fei wore.
Sword: Oliver used a sword when he was fighting Ra's Al Ghul
Sara's Bo-staff: When fighting the "Mayor's" men, Oliver briefly used Sara's bo staff and she use his bow and arrow. They immediately switched afterwards.
Oliver is the seventh character in the Arrowverse to be brought back to life without time travel, after Sara, Kuasa, Roy Harper, Otis Graves, Nate Heywood, and Lex Luthor.
Oliver is right-handed, at least while fighting. When he is in a serious close combat, Oliver will switch his bow from his shooting hand (left hand) to his fighting hand (right hand) and use it as a staff. However, Oliver always uses his right hand to pull back on the arrow.
According to Supergirl, Green Arrow does not exist on her Earth. This implies that if Oliver even has a doppelgänger on that Earth, he never became Green Arrow, or if he is a vigilante in that universe, he has a different alias.
Oliver's most recent codename, Green Arrow, was interestingly suggested by Malcolm back in the Season 1 episode "Year's End",
This version of Oliver Queen is very similar to Batman, being a brooding, cold, serious hero, in contrast to comic book Oliver's light-hearted and wisecracking demeanor. However this change is likely due to contradicting personalities between Oliver and Barry, and how Oliver from the Arrowverse is similar to the one from Smallville.
Oliver's and Barry"s stories are almost parallel to teach other.
They are both motivated by the death of a parent (Robert and Nora) and watched their surviving parent get killed in front of them (Henry and Moira)
They have an archenemy who is more skilled than they are the reason their parents are deceased. (Dark Archer and Reverse-Flash
Their surviving parent was imprisoned in Iron Heights (Moira and Henry) who are killed by the main antagonist the end of their respective 2nd season that further motivated them to stop their enemies (Slade killed Moira in front of Oliver and Zoom killed Henry in front of Barry)
They both saved troubled teenagers boys who were changed by their rescues and later become their proteges/surrogate brothers.
Oliver saved Roy from dying at the hands of "The Savior", causing Roy to become obsessed with the Green Arrow and eventually becoming Oliver's protege and forming a brotherly relationship with Oliver.
Barry gave up his speed to Zoom in order to save his stepbrother, Wally West. Wally was drag race but found his life changed by Barry saving his life. The two everyday had no problem referring to each other as brothers, with Wally even becoming Kid Flash.
They both have female counterparts Thea Queen and Jesse Wells who become Speedy and Jesse Quick. Ironically, the girls end up dating their male counterparts.
Both they're 1st seasons involved a love triangle (Tommy X Laurel X Oliver and Eddie x Iris x Barry)
Ironically, both Eddie and Tommy act as red herring for the audiences. They want you to think that Eddie is the Reverse-Flash and Timmy is the Darhk Archer because they both have the last names of Oliver and Barry's archenemies from the comics; Eobard Thawne and Malcolm Merlyn. Instead they're related to the villain of Season 1. Tommy is Malcolm's son and Eddie is Eobard Thawne's ancestor)
They ultimately get the girl at the end (Iris and Felicity ) and have daughters who grow up without their fathers in the bad future but have a happier one in post-Crisis (Mia Queen and Nora West-Allen)
A best friend who is like a brother to them. (Cisco, John, and Tommy) abs a father figure who is their friend in the police force (Quentin Lance fot Oliver and Joe West for Barry).
They've redeemed a villain. (Captain Cold and Slade Wilson)
