Nora Allen (nee Thompson) is the mother of Barry Allen from the Flash comics. She is a minor character in Barry Allen's run in The Flash and the overarching protagonist of the DC Universe event, Flashpoint.

Her murder at the hands of Eobard Thawne kickstarted Barry s career as a forensics scientist and eventually lead to him becoming the speedster vigilante known as The Flash.

Nora Allen was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, first appearing in The Flash #126. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Nora Allen first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in The Flash (Volume 4) #8 by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato.

In his later years, Barry aspired to become a CSI technician in light of his mother's death. Unlike everyone else, barry believed his father to be innocent. He eventually learned that Nora was killed by the Reverse Flash.

In the Prime Earth timeline, Barry learned that Darryl Frye was having an extramarital affair with Nora Allen, who was killed shortly after her husband received their divorce papers. Darryl was investigating the murder scene at Nora's house when a young Barry arrived home. He tried to explain to Barry that Nora was dead, and the evidence showed that his father killed Nora. Not wanting Nora's child to grow up an orphan, Darryl raised Barry. Years after Nora's death, Barry still believes that his father is innocent.
