Nimueh is the overarching antagonist in the BBC series Merlin, serving is the main antagonist of the first season and the posthumous antagonist in subsequent seasons. She is an evil sorceress who used to be friends with Uther Pendragon and Gaius, the latter of whom she used to practice with. Now out for revenge on Uther for persecuting her loved ones, she becomes rivals with Camelot's protector, Merlin.

However, she indirectly played a factor in the infamous Great Purge by helping Uther and his wife, Ygraine, by performing magic so they could conceive a child together, Arthur Pendragon. However, his wife died in childbirth and blaming Nimueh for his wife's death, started a terrible crusade against magic. In present day, Nimueh seeks to avenge those she lost and is now fighting against the King she once called friend.
