Nightmare Moon (real name Princess Luna ) is the main antagonist of the first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic . She is an evil manifestation of Princess Luna, who grew jealous of her sister Celestia. However, nightmare Moon was defeated by the Mane Six and restored to Luna, who reconciled with Celestia. She is noticable for being the first villain in the series and the first enemy Twilight and the Mane Six face and later defeat with the elements of Harmony.
She is the secondary antagonist in the Season 5 finale, "The Cutie Re-Mark" and the Season 7 episode, "A Royal Problem". She also appeared as a flashback antagonist in the Season 4 premiere, "Princess Twilight Sparkle" and a minor antagonist in the Season 9 premiere, "The Beginning of the End".
