Nico Minoru, formerly known as Sister Grimm and the Gloom, nicknamed Nic by her friends, is a superhero appearing in the Runaways, an American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

Nico is a witch, who has a strong magical aptitude. Her powers are augmented through a device known as the Staff of One. She is the girlfriend of Karolina Dean and notable for being a founding member and leader of the Runaways, a group of teenagers who have teamed up to fight against their evil parents, the Pride. She is also a teacher at the Strange Academy as the Professor of Creative Spell Casting.

Publication History[]

Created in 2003 by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Adrian Alphona, the character debuted in Runaways #1.

Powers and abilities[]

Magical Aptitude: Without the Staff of One, Nico has the following powers:

  • Flight
  • Magical Telekinesis: With her mind and magic, Nico can levitate objects or individuals
  • Magical Teleportation: Nico is able to create portals that help transports her and others to any places she pleases.
  • Magic Shielding: Nico can create powerful shields without the staff.
