Nathaniel "Nate" Heywood is a major character in the Arrowverse, debuting in the second season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow and appears in Arrow , Supergirl , and The Flash . He was the the best friend of Ray Palmer and the friend of Zari Tomaz.
Background [ ] Nate strove to follow the footsteps of his grandfather, Henry Heywood, who was originally a member of the Justice Society of America and the vigilance Commander Steel. Nate choose to name himself Steel in honor of his late grandfather and later became a member of the Legends . After losing his status as a metahuman in the seventh and final season of the series, Nate decide to live with Zari in the Air Totem.
