Mr. LaRusso is a posthumous protagonist in The Karate Kid franchise. He was the father of Daniel LaRusso, the father-in-law of Amanda La Russo and Samantha and Anthony LaRusso, the late husband of Lucille LaRusso and the paternal uncle of Louie and Vanessa LaRusso
His first name is unknown.
Background[]
Mr. LaRusso was born in Newark, alongside his brother, Louie. He eventually met and married Lucille LaRusso in 1964 and had a son in 1966, who they named Daniel. He and Lucille took Daniel to Coney Island for vacation at one point due to them living in Newark, which was very close to New York City. This was before his father' god sick. Mr. LaRusso died of an unknown cause in circa 1975, leaving Lucille a widow and leaving his 8 year old son fatherless.
Due to his father's death, Daniel came to see his sensei and mentor, Mr. Miyagi to be his surrogate father.
Personality[]
Mr. LaRusso's personality is largely unknown. However, based on Daniel and Lucille’s memories of Mr. LaRusso before he got sick, it is implied he was a good husband and father. He took his son to Coney Island on vacation at one point. Later, Daniel admits to Mr. Miyagi that his father's death deeply affected him and how he failed at his duties a as son.

- Due to Mr. LaRusso dying before the series, Sam had Mr. Miyagi was the closest grandfather figure she had.
- His physical description is largely unknown, but he likely had dark brown eyes and black hair like his son and grandson. He probably does not have blue eyes as Samantha inherited her grandmother and mother's blue eyes.
- Mr. LaRusso is the second absentee father mentioned/introduced in the series, after Mr. Miyagi's father and before Julie's father, Mr. Lawrence (Johnny's father), Mr. Nichols (Tory's) , Hector (Miguel's father), Mr. Steiner (Amanda's fathers).
- However, he and Mr. Pierce are the only fathers who died when their children were young while Johnny, Tory and Amanda were abandoned from their fathers and Miguel's mother and grandmother fled from Ecuador.
- His wife never remarried or had children with other.
