Mother Gothel, also known as Mother Nature, the Witch, and currently known as Eloise Gardener, is a character and the main antagonist of the seventh season of ABC's Once Upon a Time. She débuts in the third episode of the seventh season and is portrayed by guest star Emma Booth.
Gothel is loosely based off Dame Gothel from the fairytale, Rapunzel and Mother Gothel from the 2010 Disney film Tangled, as well as briefly taking the place of Rapunzel and the spring sprite from "The Firebird Suite" segment from the Disney film Fantasia 2000. Gothel is also based on Carrie White from the Stephen King novel of the same name and Mother Nature from folklore.
