Maxim Horvath is the main antagonist of the 2010 Disney live-action fantasy film The Sorcerer's Apprentice. He is a servant of Morgana Le Fay, a former apprentice of Merlin and the arch-enemy of both Balthazar Blake and Dave Stutler. He was one of the most ruthless sorcerers who works with Morgana in her own quest for world domination by resurrecting the spirits of evil sorcerers.
Maxim Horvath was portrayed by legendary actor Alfred Molina, who also portrayed Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 and voiced Viggo Grimborn in Dragons: Race to the Edge.

Maxim Horvath was one of the apprentices of Merlin, alongside Veronica Gorloisen, who he was in love with, and Balthazar Blake, his rival. After Veronica chose Blake over him, Horvath betrayed his former mentor by joining Merlin's arch-enemy, Morgana le Fay.
In the 21st century, he worked to bring Morgana and assist her plan for world domination.
