―Spider-Man describing Mary Jane's bad side

Mary Jane "MJ" Watson is a supporting character in the Marvel animated series Ultimate Spider-Man. She is a student at Midtown High School, an aspiring photographer, reporter and actress, the best friend of Peter Parker and Harry Osborn and good friends with Flash Thompson. During "The Symbiote Saga" of Ultimate Spider-Man vs. Sinister Six, MJ learned her best friends' secret identity as Spider-Man, Patrioteer, and Agent Venom. In the same arc, MJ bonded with the Carnage symbiote and, under Morbius' control, and became the Carnage Queen. However, MJ learned to form a symbiotic relationship with Carnage, becoming her universe's Spider-Woman, and joining as a recruit for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Mary Jane Watson was created by Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, and John Romita Sr.

History[]

Background[]

Mary Jane Watson was born around 1996 to Philip and Madeline Watson. The family lived across the street from the Parkers, where MJ met and eventually befriended Peter. The two often play together and became best friends; however, they were not allowed to play in the streets and restricted to the driveway. At 12 years old, MJ and Peter decided to "get serious", so they kissed each other on the park bench. However, the two children were ultimately disgusted by it, deciding they were better off as friends. At an unknown point, Mary Jane took interest in working for the Daily Bugle under J. Jonah Jameson. However, she hoped to work her way up the social media Network to rid it of corruption. Sometime later, MJ befriended Harry Osborn through Parker, with all three of them starting off as best friends well into high school.

Powers and abilities[]

Symbiote Physiology: After bonding with the Carnage symbiote, MJ was given special powers and abilities similar to Agent Venom. However, she was unstable with her powers at first, especially after being forcibly put under Michael Morbius' control as the Carnage Queen. However, Harry, Peter and Flash got to her by revealing their identifies as the Patrioteer, Spider-Man and Agent Venom respecticely (similar to how Peter got to Harry). Gaining control, MJ forms a symbiotic relationship with Carnage, becoming Spider-Woman. After further training by S.H.I.E.L.D., MJ started getting used to her powers and accepting Peter's offer to joining his team.

  • Organic Webbing: MJ is able to create webbing from her own wrists and make web constructs similar to Peter.

Peter Parker[]

Harry Osborn[]

Harry and MJ met through Peter, becoming best friends. During the Frightful Four's attack on Midtown High School, Harry immediately stood in front of her, showing how protective he can be of her. Unfortunately, Harry got hurt, with MJ quickly rushing to his side. During the Symbiote Saga arc, MJ stood by Harry's side when the latter was in stasis after his fight with Anti-Venom. The Carnage symbiotes attacked and MJ refused to leave him behind, even calling Peter to help her. During the third part, seeing MJ going on a rampage when bonded to the Carnage symbiote, Harry (along with Flash and Peter) reveals his identity to get with her, like Peter did got him.
