Mara Jade Skywalker is one of the antagonists turned protagonists of the Star Wars legends. She is the enemy, turned eventual lover and wife of Luke Skywalker , mother of Ben Skywalker , sister-in-law of Leia Organa and Han Solo , and aunt of Jaina , Jacen , and Anakin Solo and great-aunt of Allana Solo . Mara Jade Skywalker was, during different times in her life, an Emperor's Hand, a smuggler, and later a Jedi Master who sat upon the New Jedi High Council.
Background [ ] Mara Jade Skywalker was born in 17 BBY, 2 years after the downfall of the galactic Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire. At a young age, Mara was highly Force-sensitive and she was immediately taken from her parents by Emperor Palpatine (really the Sith Lord Darth Sidious) to become one of his most deadliest assassins. As she grew up, she barely remembered her parents, but had memories of their reluctance to let their daughter go. Mara often came into conflict with her colleague and future father-in-law Darth Vader, possibly due to her young age and because of the Emperor's favoritism of the two. At just the age of fourteen, Mara was made an Emperor's hand after successfully breaking into Grand Moff Tarkin's chambers. However, she was unaware of other Emperor's Hands, as we're the rest of the squad. Due to her strong connection with the Force, she could hear Sidious from any corner of the Galaxy via a telepathic link.
