Founding[]
When Rainbow Dash saw two boys making fun of Fluttershy, she came to her newfound friend's defense and challenged the two boys to a race. Dash ended up winning the race and created a sonic rainboom that caused the other Mane Six to gain their cutie marks.
During the impromptu flight, Fluttershy had been unintentionally knocked off of the clouds by the three racers. She found herself in a field filled with many creatures and immediately connected with the animals living on the ground. After being scared by the sonic boom, Fluttershy helped calm the animals down and suddenly, her cutie mark appeared.

- In G5, the lessons that the Mane Six taught a couple hundred years after the franchise ended were forgotten and divided the two together
- They were never call the Mane Six in the series, and it was actually a term coined by the fans. Later, the creators and Hasbro coined the name and made it official.
- When the Cutie Mark Crusaders were told the Mane Six's Cutie Mark origin story, it was about the six girls getting their cutie marks simultaneously. This foreshadows that the exact same thing happens to Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom, and Scootaloo, realized their true talent was helping others realize their own ambitions after helping Diamond Tiara.
