Lieutenant Lyle Wainfleet (formerly corporal Wainfleet is the secondary antagonist of the 2009 film Avatar and the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water. He will return in some form of capacity in Avatar 3.
He is an RDA Corporal, later lieutenant, in the RDA and the former partner of a Trudy Chácon on her Samson gunship. He remains loyal to Quaritch, following his plan to forcibly evict the Omatikaya Clan from their Hometree so the RDA can mine Unobtanium and and took part on the assault of the Tree of Souls until he was killed by a hammerhead titanothere. He also later participates in the assault on the Tree of Souls, during which he is killed in action by a hammerhead .
Despite his death, Wainfleet's memories are transferred into an Avatar Recombinant thirteen years later. Once against serving as Miles Quaritch's second-in-command, Recom Wainfleet assists Quaritch in hunting Jake Sully and his family and ensure human colonization on Pandora, as Earth is becoming uninhabitable and slowly dying.
