Luke Castellan is the secondary antagonist of the Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
He is a nineteen year old boy who has grown disillusioned with the Olympians due to complicated relationship with his father for abandoning him and his mother May Castellan. However, he is also the hero of the great prophecy even though no one knows it yet.
History[]
Prior to the series, Luke Castellan ran away from home at the age of nine when his mother was driven insane after seeing a future prophecy of her son's own demise. After running away for five years, Luke found and befriended Thalia Grace. Eventually, he and Thalia met with Annabeth Chase when Thalia found her in the abandoned alleyway. All three of them formed their own family. At one point they encountered Hermes but the reunion better father and son took a turn for the worse. He was never the same after that.
On the way to camp, the group encountered Artemis and her band of hunters. Because of her feelings for Annabeth and Luke, Thalia refused to join them. They were eventually found by Grover, who took them to Camp Half Blood for their safety. However they took a wrong turn and ended up in a mansion where they encountered cyclopes who captured Luke, Grover and Thalia except Annabeth. After a while, Hades sent packs of Hellhounds and the Furies after Thalia and her newfound family in retribution for Zeus trying to kill Hades' children and the accidental murder of his lover, Maria di Angelo. Thalia stayed behind to fight the creatures as her friends made it to camp. unfortunately, Thalia had been killed by the monsters, causing Luke to further hate the gods.
Appearance[]
Luke is a tall young man with an athletic, muscular build. He has a sharp nose and the sneaky look like all Hermes demigod children. Unlike his book counterapart, Luke is dark-brown haired, brown eyes and tanner skin.

- Fighting Skills: Luke has been trained in hand-to-hand combat during his stay at Camp Half-Blood.
Difference from the source material[]
- Luke is the one who explains the origins of Thalia's tree instead of Grover (who is forced to keep his distance from Percy by Mr. D. and Chiron.)
- Additionally, Luke is sixteen years old as opposed to 19.l
- During Luke's betrayal scene, he attempts to recruit Percy into his cause and doesn't send a scorpion to kill him when he refuses.

Etymology[]
- Luke is the name of the patron saint of physicians and surgeons in Christianity.
- Castellan means a governor or warden of a castle. It also means "someone who guards the castle".
