Lucille LaRusso is a minor character in The Karate Kid universe. She is Daniel LaRusso's mother, Samantha and Anthony's grandmother, Mr. LaRusso's widow, and Amanda's mother-in-law.
Background[]
After her husband died even their son was 8, Lucille raised Daniel by herself. She never remarried or had any new children. They moved from Newark, New Jersey to Reseda, California because of Lucille's new job. She became good friends with Daniel's sensei, Mr. Miyagi and supported her son in his karate. However, Lucille's attempted to help her son in his rivalry with Johnny Lawrence, but only ever ended up embarrassing him until Daniel won in their match against Lawrence.
In the late 2010s, she often visited her family, sometimes getting into arguments with Amanda at times. She gives her granddaughter a pearl necklace that once belonged to Miyagi's mother and late wife and revealed to Daniel the true circumstances of Miyagi in self-defense.

Lucille reappears in the series finale, attending a graduation ceremony with her family, Miguel and Carmen Diaz's. She gives Sam a pearl necklace that once belonged to Miyagi's mother and something he gave to Lucille as a graduation present. She felt as though it was something that Mr. Miyagi would've wanted her to have due to him loving her like a granddaughter. She also reveals to Daniel, who was haunted from the revelation that Mr. Miyagi was only acting in self-defense when he knocked the man out and his old mentor gave the necklace to her before his death for Lucille to give to Sam when the time was right.
Personality[]
Lucille is a kind and caring mother and grandmother. She was outraged to hear her son being bullied at his new high school and no matter how many times she tried to help she only meant to embarrass him further. However, she can get into conflicts with her daughter-in-law, sometimes to the point of them arguing to being condescending. However Amanda and Lucille get better due to Samantha getting involved in them getting along again. She also became good friends with Mr. Miyagi, who entrusted her with his mother and later his wife's pearl necklace
Despite her love for her family, Lucille does consider that Louie to be obnoxious and likely would've disproved with how he handled Johnny vandalizing Daniel's billboard.
