You are the reason evil runs through my blood. You bit me once. Now feel what it's like to be bitten back.
―Lord Garmadon

Lord Garmadon, formerly known as Sensei Garmadon and temporarily Emperor Garmadon or simply Garmadon, is the main antagonist of the 2011 Danish-Canadian animated series, LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.

He is the son of the First Spinjitzu Master, the father of Lloyd Garmadon and the older brother of Sensei Wu who turned evil after being bit by the Great Devourer in his early childhood. After the venom in his blood fully consumed him following his father's passing, he tried to take over the world of Ninjago but was banished to the underworld by Wu. He took his signature helmet from Samukai and became the ruler of the underworld. He returned, in command of Samukai's army of skeletons, and became the archenemy of Wu and the Ninja Team.

He is voiced by Mark Oliver, who also played Mechanikat in Krypto the Superdog, Lord Licorice in Candy Land: The Great Lollipop Adventure, Monstrox in Nexo Knights, and Grizzle in Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-Lot.

Biography[]

History[]

Lord Garmadon was born as the first born son of the first Spinjitzu master and the older brother of Wu.

Season 0: Pilot Episodes[]

Garmadon kidnapped Nya but she was rescued by her brother Kai and the Ninja. He also gained two more arms so he could wield the four Golden Weapons by himself.

Season 1: Rise of the Snakes[]

Approached by Wu[]

At some point, Garmadon got four arms so he could wield all four of the Golden Weapons. He was residing in the Realm of Madness when suddenly visited by his brother Wu, where he laughed evilly while greeting him.[1]

The two brothers dueled with Garmadon's new weapons and a group of mud monsters. However, Wu (in between strikes) informed Garmadon that his son Lloyd had been kidnapped by Pythor and the Serpentine people and they planned to release the Great Devourer. He also revealed that it was Lloyd who had released because he was Garmadon's footsteps. Forming an alliance with his brother in order to save his son, Garmadon led Wu across the wastelands in search of a way to return to Ninjago. While on the way, Garmadon learned that things have been hard for Lloyd since he was abandoned. Garmadon told Wu he never wanted Lloyd to follow in his footsteps and thanked his brother for looking out for Lloyd.[2]

As they climbed the Mountain of Madness, Garmadon and Wu were beset by Craglings. The brothers used Spinjitzu to fend off the rock beasts and continued their journey. Eventually, they found a portal that sent them back to Ninjago.[3]

Personality[]

Before being bitten by the Great Devourer as a child, Garmadon was a kind and caring person. However the Great Devourer turned his blood evil. However he was able to resist the temptation of the darkness to fall in love with Misako and have a son with her. However, he eventually gave into the temptation of his dark heart. Despite his newfound evilness, he still had feelings for his wife and their son.

As time went on, Garmadon came to regret the way he treated Lloyd during the Oni trilogy and still saught to redeem their relationship. After saving the Two Moon Village, he realized he wanted true redemption and right his wrongs to the people he formerly repressed. Taking a vow on non-violence, he seemed quite content with life in Vinny's apartment but developed a strange obsession with a plant he nicknamed Christofern. Eventually Nya realized that his obsession with the plant and his need to fix it was merely a metaphor to his Garmadon wanted to mend his father and son relationship with Lloyd.
